Will Purple Line Extend to Hoskote 2026 Update

If you live in Hoskote today, you do not have a metro station in your backyard yet. You still need to travel to reach the existing Purple Line.

The closest station for most people is Whitefield (Kadugodi), which is about 10 to 12 km away. Other nearby stops include Hopefarm Channasandra and KR Puram. Most commuters take a BMTC bus like the 317 series to reach these stations. From Kadugodi, you can reach MG Road in about 40 minutes. Even though the metro is not in Hoskote yet, the connectivity is much better than it was two years ago because the trains run more often now.

The most exciting part of the 2026 update is the new "double-decker" corridor. The BMRCL wants to build this along the busy NH-75 highway.

This design is a smart way to fix traffic. Instead of taking up more land, the metro pillars will hold both a new flyover and the train tracks. The flyover will be on the first level to help cars skip the traffic lights. The metro will be on the second level above the cars. This 16.3 km stretch will start at the KR Puram interchange and end near the Hoskote Government Hospital. It is designed to move over 2 lakh people every day.

The 2026 feasibility study lists 11 potential stations for this extension. These stops are placed at the busiest spots where people live and work.

• KR Puram & ITI Bhavan: These will be the starting points connecting to the existing lines.
• TC Palya Gate & Bhattarahalli: Important stops for the big residential areas near the lake.
• Medahalli & Avalahalli: These stations will serve the new apartment complexes.
• Budigere Cross: A major junction where many people switch buses.
• Katamnallur Gate: This stop is right near the flyover and the Tirupati highway.
• Hoskote Toll Plaza & KEB Circle: These will serve the main town and shopping areas.
• Hoskote Government Hospital: The final stop for the eastern end of the line.

Everyone wants to know when they can jump on a train in Hoskote. As of May 2026, the project is in the "DPR" or Detailed Project Report stage.

The government has looked at the costs and how many people will use the line. Now, they need to get the final "okay" for the money. Construction usually takes 4 to 5 years once it starts. Since the BMRCL is currently busy finishing the Blue Line to the Airport and the Pink Line, the Hoskote work might not start until 2027 or 2028. This means the first trains could realistically reach Hoskote by 2031 or 2032. It is a long-term plan, but it is moving forward.

The metro plan is already changing how people think about Hoskote. It is no longer just a far-away industrial town.

• Better Jobs: New offices and tech parks are planned near the Katamnallur and Budigere stations.
